Every few months, I go to the DA homepage, and make sure to look at the latest pieces in an ill-advised exercise I like to call "drinking from the firehose". It serves two purposes. First, I occasionally find an artist I like who isn't being pimped by the algorithm. Second, watching the picture I just submitted turn up eight pages down because of all the other submissions in the last thirty seconds makes me properly grateful for the handful of favorites I receive.
Except now DA has changed their interface and I am no longer sure, when I go to the homepage, whether I am receiving the full might of the firehose, or a selection by an algorithm.
I suppose I was never really certain. I was taking the site's word when I clicked the "latest" link. And it's probably best for my and everyone else's health if the Sonic Foot Vore is reserved for those people who search for it. And it's completely possible that the selection at the top of the page is the latest with no filter. And, of course, these changes all happened a year or more ago, and I'm just now noticing them.
But thus, I suppose, for better or worse, we reach the end of an era.
